Accommodations
You will labor, deliver and recover in the same room. Afterward, to provide a quieter, more relaxing atmosphere, you will move to a private postpartum suite.
We concentrate on what is really important – the bond between you and your child. When your baby arrives, we encourage you to keep your child in your room as much as you desire – day and night – to help you establish a warm and nurturing relationship.

Physicians
You have a choice where you deliver. Experienced physicians across central Illinois practice at our hospitals, including doctors from Memorial Care, Springfield Clinic and SIU Medicine.
Obstetrical (OB) Hospitalists
The Memorial Obstetrical Hospitalist Program offers reassurance that you and your baby will receive the best care, any time of the day or night. Our OB hospitalists are available 24/7 to provide backup support in labor and delivery if your own OB is unavailable or if an emergency arises.
Nurses
Our Magnet-designated labor and delivery nurses, nursery nurses and lactation consultants are at the top of their fields. Our nurses are specialty certified in obstetrics, newborn nursery, fetal monitoring and maternal newborn care to ensure the highest level of care for you and your baby. Simulated training events mimic real life scenarios that allow our care team hands-on practice to prepare them for any situation.
Breastfeeding Assistance
Our certified lactation consultants are on call to help you with breastfeeding during your hospital stay as well as after you return home. We also offer breastfeeding support groups.
Support Staff
Dietitians, social workers, pharmacists and others provide you and your baby with seamless care from delivery to recovery and back home.
