Full range of testing the body’s ability to stop bleeding (hemostasis) is available. Routine testing for anticoagulant therapy is offered 24 hours a day, every day. Lab operates Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Our team works with our cytopathologists to diagnose benign processes, precancerous lesions, cancer and certain infectious organisms on a microscopic cellular level. The cytology department:
- Analyzes pap ‘smears’ and cells collected from other body sites
- Tests for Human Papillomavirus (HPV)
- Attends certain scoped procedures at Springfield Memorial Hospital (SMH) to ensure enough specimen is collected for adequate testing
Flow cytometry most commonly monitors the levels of helper T-cells in HIV patients and can detect leukemia or lymphoma.
