MOSAIC is a partnership designed to make children’s mental health services more accessible. The MOSAIC mission is to braid together community resources to better support children and families so they can grow up happy and healthy.
MOSAIC is currently active in three different communities and provides supportive services in schools. School-based services include:
- A school-based therapist works with student, family and school to build a positive and therapeutic relationship.
- Communication is ongoing between therapist, school and family (with appropriate authorization) through a progress update form.
- The therapist may use different models that involve play, discussion or activities to promote skill developments (e.g., coping strategies, problem-solving, communication), process emotions and help resolve problems.
- The therapist can provide on-demand support for students enrolled in the program when appropriate.
- Services continue to be available as long as the student is enrolled in a MOSAIC school and there are treatment needs.
- Challenges addressed with MOSAIC services: decline in academic performance due to inability to focus, pay attention and complete tasks; difficulty managing feelings of anger, sadness, anxiety, etc.; negative relationships with family, adults and peers; low/poor self-esteem and more.
