Child Community Programs

Child Case-Management

This program is offered at all MBH locations: Springfield, Jacksonville, Lincoln and Taylorville. A mental health professional facilitating skill-building interventions can meet with youth ages 3-20 in a variety of settings including school, home or the MBH offices. Upon completion of an IMCANS/Recovery Plan, clinicians will meet with youth on a biweekly basis either in person or via telehealth. While all treatment is individualized to fit the youth’s needs, case-management may teach some common skills that help alleviate stressors, anxiety and depression in various areas of the youth’s life. Family involvement is encouraged.

MOSAIC is a partnership designed to make children’s mental health services more accessible. The MOSAIC mission is to braid together community resources to better support children and families so they can grow up happy and healthy.

MOSAIC is currently active in three different communities and provides supportive services in schools. School-based services include:

  • A school-based therapist works with student, family and school to build a positive and therapeutic relationship.
  • Communication is ongoing between therapist, school and family (with appropriate authorization) through a progress update form.
  • The therapist may use different models that involve play, discussion or activities to promote skill developments (e.g., coping strategies, problem-solving, communication), process emotions and help resolve problems.
  • The therapist can provide on-demand support for students enrolled in the program when appropriate.
  • Services continue to be available as long as the student is enrolled in a MOSAIC school and there are treatment needs.
  • Challenges addressed with MOSAIC services: decline in academic performance due to inability to focus, pay attention and complete tasks; difficulty managing feelings of anger, sadness, anxiety, etc.; negative relationships with family, adults and peers; low/poor self-esteem and more.

MOSAIC is active in Athens: Athens Jr. High School and Athens High School.

Screening, Assessment and Support Services (SASS)

This program is offered at all MBH locations: Springfield, Jacksonville, Lincoln and Taylorville. This program takes referrals solely through the CARES line. Regardless of crisis screen disposition, all youth ages 3-20 are offered enrollment into our SASS Program. This includes 12 weeks of crisis stabilization intervention targeting crisis triggers, teaching communication and problem solving skills and developing healthy coping mechanisms while reducing stressors in youth’s environment. Treatment can be offered on a weekly basis and be conducted at school, home or Memorial Behavioral Health offices.

MBH Peace Rooms

A Memorial Behavioral Health therapist will be on site at all three Springfield District 186 high schools to provide mental health support through individual counseling, group sessions or even mediation between students.

The Peace Rooms are confidential and free to all students at Lanphier, Southeast and Springfield High Schools with no required assessments, paperwork or bills. District 186 funds the program.

Students may utilize the support for issues including: struggles with friends, family or significant others; school pressures like academics or athletics; bullying; social media challenges; experiencing anxiety, depression or stress; facing prejudice, racism or sexism; or fear for the well-being of peers.

Memorial Behavioral Health therapists will be on site:

  • Lanphier High School: Tuesday, Thursday and Friday throughout school day.
  • Springfield High School: daily throughout school day.
  • Southeast High School: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday throughout school day.

Telehealth and phone appointments

You deserve convenient care. Our telehealth visits offer a safe, convenient option to speak with your established behavioral health provider through two-way video technology from the comfort of your own home with a computer or mobile device.

You are not required to use telehealth, but it is another way we can meet your behavioral health needs conveniently and safely.

Not sure if telehealth is an option for you? Call our office, and our colleagues will discuss your needs and determine if a telehealth visit is appropriate.

If we need to see you in person, we will ensure your safety through measures like:

  • Screening upon arrival
  • Required masks for all colleagues and patients
  • Reduced seating
  • In-car registration for zero waiting room time

Walk-In Services

Memorial Behavioral Health Clinic provides same-day, walk-in services at many of our behavioral health clinics. Anyone interested in receiving services can walk in any time during office hours Monday through Friday.

Meet with a caring, highly skilled mental health specialist who will help you explore the challenges you face and help you determine if mental health treatment and support services are appropriate for your care. Walk-in services will not include seeing a physician or receiving psychiatric services.

Currently, MBH provides telehealth and phone appointments for patients.

Walk-in services are available at the Springfield, Jacksonville and Lincoln locations. Springfield offers additional walk-in services for Crisis Clinic.
