What is End-of-Life Care?
As you near the end of your life, hospice care may be right for you. Hospice care is a specialized type of care for a person who is in the end stages of their life, including those with a terminal or life-limiting illness. Hospice focuses on managing a person’s pain and other symptoms so that they can live as comfortably as possible and have the best quality of life possible with the time that remains. This may include palliative care, pain and symptom management, comfort care, spiritual support
and emotional support, as well as grief and bereavement support for loved ones.

It’s important to talk to your family about your preferences for the end of life. Memorial Health has a team that can assist you with advance care planning, including living wills and durable power of attorney for healthcare, that will ensure your wishes are followed as your illness progresses.
