Savana Mixer, an operating room tech at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital, is the nonprofit hospital’s Colleague of the Month for August.
Mixer was praised for her willingness to pivot and learn a completely new job when a need was presented in the instrument storage room. She helped reprocess thousands of instruments that needed review. She used the experience to learn what the different instruments were for and the process the Sterile Processing Department uses to keep instruments safe.
“Savana is always willing to help no matter what the situation,” wrote her nominator. “She is eager to learn and makes sure she does things efficiently and effectively. Her priority is always the safety of her patients and colleagues.”
Mixer has worked for Jacksonville Memorial Hospital since 2022.
