Health Cooking Class: Balancing a Healthy Meal
10/4/2022 10:30 am - 11:30 am
Health classes can range from food as a prevention strategy to food as part of therapeutic treatment of a diagnosed condition.
A healthy eating plan includes balanced meals including heart healthy levels of fat, protein and sodium. In this class, you will:
- Relate pairing proteins and plants to managing glucose levels.
- Identify food groups that provide heart healthy proteins, fats and sodium.
- Prepare a carbohydrate-modified side dish for a meal.
- Cook a lean protein and vegetable entrée in less than 30 minutes.
Culinary Medicine classes involve preparing several recipes to learn basic culinary techniques while engaging in conversation related to the food-medicine connection. Participants taste the recipes the group has prepared and then set goals for using their new skills at home.
