Taylorville Memorial Hospital has resumed many of its surgeries and services which had been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The safety of our patients and caregivers is our first priority, and we are adhering to guidelines from the Illinois Department of Public Health and Centers for Disease Control,” said TMH president and CEO Kim Bourne. “We are screening everyone who walks through our doors, requiring masks be worn, practicing social distancing and performing COVID testing for those who are scheduled for surgery and other services that are respiratory-related.”
In addition to surgery, TMH is resuming physical, occupational and speech therapy, respiratory therapy services such as pulmonary function tests and sleep studies, mammograms and other radiology services, cardiac rehabilitation and Senior Life Solutions, a behavioral health program for senior citizens.
Adjustments have been made to make for a great patient experience and keep in line with current guidelines such as using verbal consents instead of signatures, pre-registering patients before they arrive to speed up the registration process and making waiting rooms social distancing friendly. Health-care providers are contacting patients to reschedule procedures and visits that had been postponed. Patients with questions, or anyone experiencing a health issue, should contact their provider’s office for guidance.
No visitors are permitted at TMH except under special circumstances. Updated visitor guidelines are available at TaylorvilleMemorial.org.
“Don’t delay medical care if you need it,” said Bourne. “With the many precautions and guidelines we follow, TMH continues to be a safe environment to receive quality care.”
