Because of COVID-19, the Prairie Council on Aging is looking for volunteer delivery drivers to distribute Doorbell Dinners to shut-ins in the Jacksonville community. Doorbell Dinners are medically-prescribed meals provided by the Prairie Council on Aging, Church Women United and Passavant Area Hospital.
The agency is looking for new volunteers since a majority of their current volunteers are seniors. Volunteer qualifications:
· Available weekdays, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
· Own vehicle with GPS access on car or personal mobile device
· Complete a safety screening
· Under age 65 and in good health with no compromised immune system, diabetes, COPD or congestive heart failure
Meal recipients have been screened for COVID-19.
If you are willing to serve as a Doorbell Dinner delivery driver, please call the Prairie Council on Aging, 217-479-4619.
