TMH Foundation Announces 2019 Healthcare Career Education Grant Recipient

1/16/2020

Kristin Stanton of Taylorville is the recipient of the 2019 Healthcare Career Education Grant from the Taylorville Memorial Hospital Foundation.

Stanton, a Taylorville native, loves the one-on-one patient interaction she had being a dental hygienist. Now making the career path change to nursing, she is looking forward to continuing that connection with her patients she will be caring for in her nursing career. Married to Jeremy Stanton and mother to a young son, she both works and attends school full-time. A student at St. John’s School of Nursing, she looks forward to working in her hometown at TMH in June 2021.

Stanton, who was selected after a robust application process including personal interviews with TMH nursing leaders, will receive $25,000 to help fund the pursuit of her degree.

“At the direction of the board, we have made a commitment to invest in the future workforce at TMH through this grant program. We are proud to support local students pursuing degrees in healthcare with the opportunity to work at TMH upon degree completion,” said TMH Foundation executive director Raedena Ryan. “This would not be possible without the generosity of our donors.”

Applications for the Healthcare Career Education Grant are available to any aspiring healthcare professional in our region. Awards range from $10,000-$30,000 depending upon the degree being sought. Applications are due April 1 annually.

“Supporting the studies of students like Kristin reflects the mission of both the Foundation and the hospital,” said Billy Williams, vice president and scholarship committee chairman of the TMH Foundation. “We are confident in our investment in students, the hospital and our community.”
