“I love my job because of the people I work with,” registered nurse Jessi Evans said. “We work as a team with one goal in mind–the patient. We strive to meet all the needs of the patient and make each visit a great patient experience.”
Evans was recently selected as the Colleague of the Month. A grateful co-worker nominated her for the award and said she always provides something extra. “Jessi provides excellent care across the board, in addition to being a great colleague and champion for our department.”
As a charge nurse in Ambulatory Surgery, Evans helps prepare patients for surgery, anticipates discharge needs and maintains communication between her department and Surgery. She also assists with discharge teaching. “Just being there for the patient is so important,” said Evans. Sometimes, in addition to being a nurse, you are also a counselor. I love what I do knowing I make a difference in each patient’s life.”
Evans, who has been employed at Passavant since 2005, earned a bachelor of science degree in nursing from MacMurray College.
Evans and her husband, Mike, live in Exeter. They are the parents of two daughters, Sydni and Gabriella. The family holds a special place in their heart for Evans’ deceased daughter, Halli.
In her free time, Evans attends her daughter’s dance and tumbling practice and events. Evans also helps coach her brother’s 18 and under Midwest Adrenaline softball team.
The Colleague of the Month at Passavant receives eight hours off with pay, an Employee of the Month plaque, an Employee of the Month pin, a close parking space for one month in the physicians’ parking garage and a decorated cake.
