As a nurse educator, Christine Staake, MS(N), RN-BC, Educational Services, is always available to support her nursing colleagues with the resources and support they need to fulfill their role.
“I enjoy being able to creatively meet the educational needs of my colleagues and the organization” said Staake. “My reward is facilitating the learning and seeing the ‘ah-ha’ moment. My goal is to continually refine nursing professional development skills to assist colleagues in providing safe, efficient and quality patient care.”
Staake was recently selected as the October Colleague of the Month.
A 1978 graduate of the Passavant School of Nursing, Staake works with the Educational Services team to create written training materials, computer-based learning modules and continuing education courses for the Passavant nursing team. She also assists with the nursing team onboarding, clinical orientation Skills Days and participates on several nursing councils.
“Chris is an excellent teacher and mentor,” said her nominator. “Chris is always there for them, always patient and with words of kindness and support.”
From 1978 to 1994, Chris worked at Passavant in various nursing roles, including medical-surgical, Pediatrics, ICCU and house supervisor. She returned to Passavant in 2015 as nurse educator.
Staake and her husband, Gary, reside in rural Chapin. They are the parents of four children and eight grandchildren. Her hobbies include crocheting, canning, refinishing furniture and drag racing.
The Colleague of the Month at Passavant receives eight hours off with pay, an Employee of the Month plaque, an Employee of the Month pin, a close parking space for one month in the physicians’ parking garage and a decorated cake.
