Jeffrey Huffer of Lincoln has been named the October Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital Colleague of the Month.
Huffer serves as an electrical technician in the plant operations department at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln. A graduate of Lincoln Community High School, Huffer earned his associate’s degree in electricity/electronics from Lincoln Land Community College. He completed a five-year apprenticeship in the IBEW 193 and has worked over 25 years as a journeyman electrician.
In his role at ALMH Huffer maintains electrical equipment, oversees building automation systems and assists in a variety of facilities projects.
“I’m proud to be part of a team of people who strive to make a great hospital for our community,” said the long-time Lincoln resident. “Our plant operations team works hard to keep our building in prime shape and ensure patient comfort,” said Huffer.
Huffer was nominated by colleagues who wanted to recognize his skill as an electrician, commitment to safety, and positive attitude.
The nomination read, “Jeff is meticulous in adhering to safety procedures which is critical as he is an electrician who routinely works on dangerous equipment.” Another colleague appreciated his trouble-shooting to identify solutions when they aren’t always readily available and added, “when Jeff fixes something, it stays fixed.” Another colleague stated that “Jeff is always polite and friendly with everyone. He respects others and shows compassion on a daily basis.”
