Free Stroke Awareness Seminar Planned at Taylorville Memorial

Taylorville Memorial Hospital will hold a free seminar on stroke awareness at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, in the TMH Janice Hopper Auditorium.

Sponsored by Memorial Stroke Services, the one-hour seminar, titled “Be Stroke Aware: BE FAST,” will cover types of stroke, new stroke guidelines, opportunities for stroke prevention and support after a stroke. Time will be allotted for questions at the conclusion of the presentation.

Four physicians will lead the seminar. They are Dr. Hayan Dayoub, a neurosurgeon with Springfield Clinic; Dr. Louis Graham, a physiatrist with SIU Medicine; Dr. Sajjad Mueed, a neurologist with SIU Medicine and Dr. Casey Muehle, a vascular and interventional radiology with Clinical Radiologists.

“We are so pleased to bring this seminar to Taylorville,” said TMH Community Health Specialist Melissa Thomas. “The information being presented is invaluable and could help save lives.”

The seminar will feature free health screenings from 5 to 6 p.m. These screenings include falls and balance screenings, medication review, diabetes education and glucose monitoring, risk factor education and blood pressure.

Attendees will need to enter the hospital through the Emergency Department Entrance.
