Passavant Rehab Clinic–Beardstown is expanding physical therapy services to patients in Beardstown and the surrounding areas with the addition of a hometown physical therapist, Larissa Sorrells, PT, DPT, ATC.

A 2004 graduate of Beardstown High School, Sorrells is the clinical coordinator of Passavant Rehab Clinic–Beardstown.

“I am passionate about brining high-quality healthcare to rural areas,” said Sorrells. “I want to help patients in Beardstown get back to their highest level of functioning.” The Clinic, located at 400 S. State, is open weekdays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with plans to increase hours and staff in the near future.

Sorrells brings extensive experience to the Clinic. She earned her doctorate in physical therapy from Southwest Baptist University and a bachelor’s degree and certification as an athletic trainer from Culver-Stockton College. She is certified in ergonomic assessment, selective functional movement, instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization and concussion assessment.

“I hate to see people living in pain,” said Sorrells. “Even if patients have tried traditional physical therapy, there are new techniques we can use to help relieve even the most stubborn pain. I am a firm believer that patients should not live with pain.”

Her experience allows her to treatment a variety of patient conditions, including orthopedic pain and injuries, concussion care, work-related injuries, post-surgical care, total joint replacement rehabilitation, pain from sports injuries, weight loss/wellness exercise assessment, mobility assessment and pediatric and geriatric orthopedics.

Sorrells and her husband, Josh, reside in Beardstown with their two children. Josh serves as athletic director and vice principal at Beardstown High School. Her father is long-time Beardstown baseball coach Robin Lewis and her mother is Debra Lewis of Debra N. Lewis Appraisals.

“I promise to take excellent care of our patients,” said Sorrells. “I want them to return to living pain-free.”
