Becky Housman, BSN, RN, makes sure the care she provides for patients on the Three South nursing unit is special. She wouldn’t have it any other way.

“Be present and have fun,” Housman said. “Go above and beyond. When the time calls for it ‘sing and dance.’ My reward is when I bring a smile to a patient’s face and help them through their hospital stay.”

Housman says she is more than just medical/surgical nurse, she is part of a great team. “I love how we work as a team on Three South. We truly strive and excel due to our collaboration. We are a family and it shows.”

Housman was nominated for the Employee of the Month award by the family of a grateful patient. “Becky is an amazing asset to your organization. She calmed our fears and worked well with the doctor to help get the needed care. Becky also provided a piece of cake and had the staff sing to another family member on their birthday.”

A graduate of Lewis and Clark Community College and MacMurray College, Housman has future plans to pursue cardiovascular certification and start school to become a family nurse practitioner.

Housman and her husband, Billy, live in White Hall. They are the parents of five children. “I have a loud and loving family,” Housman said. “We do lots of activities together. Family is everything.”

The Employee of the Month at Passavant receives eight hours off with pay, an Employee of the Month plaque, an Employee of the Month pin, a close parking space for one month in the physicians’ parking garage and a decorated cake.
