Women’s Health Center to Offer Specialty OB-GYN Care; SIU Medicine to Manage Women’s Health Center

12/12/2018

The Women’s Health Center at Passavant Area Hospital is offering more specialty care under new management from SIU Medicine.

Services will continue to be provided at 610 N. Westgate St. on the northwest corner of the Passavant campus. Providers are Dr. Alexander Hrynewych, Dr. Jeffrey Olejnik, Dr. Alexander Raw and Caitlen Wiese, a family nurse practitioner.

SIU Medicine provides Jacksonville-area women with greater access to specialty obstetrics and gynecology services, including care for high-risk pregnancies, endometriosis, osteoporosis, polycystic ovarian syndrome and urinary conditions, in addition to routine women’s health exams and prenatal care.

The change in management occurred August 2018.

“Our specialists aim to fill a void in Morgan County by delivering specialized care for women and expectant mothers,” said Dr. Ricardo Loret de Mola, SIU Medicine professor and chair of obstetrics and gynecology. “It’s an incredible feeling to know we’re making health care more accessible for women in Jacksonville and the surrounding communities.”

“The transfer of the Women’s Health Center to SIU provides the community with more access to specialty providers and services,” said Robert Ellison, director of business development and community engagement at Passavant. “Our partnership with SIU is just another way Passavant is working to bring increased access to care to Jacksonville and the surrounding communities.”
