Passavant Collaborates With Local Schools To Eat Healthy

3/30/2018

Karen Sibert, MS, RD, community nutrition educator, (left), Becca Greenann, dietetic intern, and Jonathan Zang, physical education and health teacher at Lincoln Elementary School, recently presented a program about healthy food choices to fifth grade students.

Sibert and Greenann’s visit to the school is part of a collaboration between Passavant and teachers and parents of Jacksonville School District 117 (and Our Saviour School). Passavant representatives visit schools and offer information on health-related topics, such as screen time, activity and nutrition. The aim is to increase and strengthen health and nutrition-related programs using the evidence-based and family-friendly 5210 model. The 5210 encourages children to eat 5 servings of fruits and vegetables, engage in no more than 2 hours of screen time, get at least 1 hour of activity and consume 0 sugar-sweetened beverages each day.
