Memorial Medical Center to Host Shoulder Replacement Seminar

11/1/2017

Memorial Medical Center will host a free community event to inform and educate people about each step involved in a total shoulder replacement on Tuesday, Nov. 14, at the Memorial Center for Learning and Innovation (MCLI), 228 W. Miller St.

The program, “Orthopedic Town Hall: Total Shoulder Replacement,” begins at 6 p.m. in the M.G. Nelson Family Auditorium on the MCLI's first floor.

The 90-minute program will feature an eight-member panel, including five physicians, a physical therapist, a registered nurse and an occupational therapist.

They will discuss what you need to do before surgery to be prepared, the actual procedure, anesthesia, what happens at the hospital, and regaining strength and movement afterward.

The physicians are Dr. Chris Wottowa, Dr. James Newman and Dr. Mark Greatting, all with Springfield Clinic; Dr. Nicole Florence with Memorial Physician Services and Dr. Matthew Peecher with Associated Anesthesiologists. The other panelists are Bill O'Connor, physical therapist; Ellen Carpenter, registered nurse; and Lael Johnson, occupational therapist, all with Memorial Medical Center.

Free parking is available in the Memorial Center for Learning and Innovation's parking garage at Rutledge and Carpenter streets.
