Kara Montgomery, RN, in the Emergency Department at Decatur Memorial Hospital, has been named August Colleague of the Month.
Montgomery provided care for a patient who required immediate medical attention. She stepped in to help, delivering skilled care while remaining focused on the patient's needs throughout the emergency.
According to the nomination, Montgomery remained at the patient's side and advocated for the patient when the patient was unable to speak for herself. She ensured the patient was connected to monitoring equipment and worked collaboratively with colleagues during a sensitive situation.
“I have never known anybody who would advocate and care for a patient as much as Kara does,” wrote the nominator. “She was confident, knowledgeable and skillful in delivering care. And she never left the patient’s side all the way.”
