Miranda Buckley, RN, a nurse on the Intermediate Care Unit at Springfield Memorial Hospital, has been named August Colleague of the Month.
Buckley was nominated by a patient who described the positive impact she had during a hospital stay. Buckley took time to listen to concerns, clearly explain care plans and ensure the patient felt involved in decisions about treatment. Her calm presence provided reassurance during a difficult time and helped the patient feel valued as an individual.
“I never felt rushed, overlooked or unimportant,” wrote the nominator. “She truly made me feel like I mattered.”
Beyond her clinical care, Miranda's patience and compassion made a lasting impression. She encouraged the patient through small but meaningful milestones, helping the patient get out of bed and spend time in a chair despite significant health challenges.
The Colleague of the Month award recognizes Memorial Health team members who exemplify the organization's mission, vision and values through exceptional service, compassion and commitment to patients, families and colleagues.
