Kim Kersey, RN IV, in cardiac rehab at Taylorville Memorial Hospital, has been named the nonprofit hospital’s Colleague of the Month.
Kersey was nominated for her contributions in both cardiac rehab and the Emergency Department.
Recognizing a need for additional cardiac education resources, she created a comprehensive cardiac and EKG education binder for Emergency Department colleagues. The resource has assisted nurses and other team members seeking guidance, review and ongoing education in cardiac care.
The nomination highlighted not only Kersey's clinical expertise, but also her passion for teaching and helping others succeed. Colleagues praised her approachable nature and willingness to share knowledge.
“The binder is extremely detailed, organized and practical,” wrote one nominator. “It has become a go-to resource for nurses and staff when needing clarification, review or education on cardiac-related situations.”
The Colleague of the Month award recognizes Memorial Health team members who exemplify the organization's mission, vision and values through exceptional service, collaboration and commitment to patients, colleagues and the communities they serve.
