8/27/2026

The Taylorville Memorial Foundation recently announced the recipients of the Carolyn M. Butterfield Trust Nursing Scholarship, the Taylorville Memorial Foundation Scholarship (formerly the John H. Butterfield Agriscience and Nutrition Scholarship), the Dr. George Ferry Memorial Scholarship and the Katie McCarty Nursing Excellence CNA Scholarship. Additionally, three Taylorville Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Scholarships were awarded to current TMH colleagues.

“We are fortunate to have generous donors who invest in the continuing education of area students through gifts to the Taylorville Memorial Foundation,” said Aaron Puchbauer, president and CEO of Taylorville Memorial Hospital. “Their recognition of the importance of supporting and hopefully retaining the best and brightest of our area students through the creation of scholarships is greatly appreciated.”

The following students were named scholarship award winners:

  • Haliegh Brown, Brittany Colton and Felicia Strauch each received $1,000 Taylorville Memorial Hospital Auxiliary scholarships. The Auxiliary scholarships are given to colleagues of Taylorville Memorial Hospital who are furthering their education to fulfill a career goal in the healthcare field.
  • Isabelle Anderson and Elle Richards each received a $1,000 Carolyn M. Butterfield Trust Nursing Scholarship. The late Mrs. Butterfield hoped these annual scholarships would help decrease the nursing shortage and lead recipients to a healthcare career in Christian County and TMH. Elle is working toward a Nursing Degree at Millikin University. Isabelle is working toward a nursing degree at SIU Edwardsville School of Nursing and wants to specialize as a labor and delivery nurse.
  • Kade Beckmier, Ella Reiss and Lyla Repscher each received a $1,000 Taylorville Memorial Foundation Scholarship (formerly the John H. Butterfield Agriscience and Nutrition Scholarship). Kade is working toward an Agriculture degree at Lincoln Land Community College; Ella is working toward an Animal Science degree at UIUC; and Lyla is working on a Dietetics/Nutrition degree at UIUC.
  • Albin Letniku and Meredith Spears each received a $2,500 Dr. George Ferry Memorial Scholarship. The late Dr. Ferry desired for scholarship recipients to pursue a healthcare career.
  • Brynn Ade received a $1,000 Katie McCarty Nursing Excellence CNA Scholarship. Established to support students pursuing Certified Nursing Assistant education, the scholarship recognizes the critical role CNAs play in delivering hands-on care and comfort to patients and honors Katie McCarty's legacy.
