SportsCare Offers Training Program for Local Triathlon

Memorial Medical Center's SportsCare will offer a 12-week training program in June for participants in the Dan Adair, MD, Memorial Triathlon in late summer.

The Triathlon Brigade will meet three times each week starting Tuesday, June 6. Sessions run from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and 7 to 7:30 a.m. Saturdays. Tuesdays will focus on running, Thursdays on cycling, and Saturdays on swimming.

The training is designed for beginner to intermediate-level participants in the upcoming triathlon. The cost is $75. To register, call 217-862-0351.

The second annual triathlon will be held Sunday, Aug. 27, at the Gus and Flora Kerasotes YMCA, 4550 W. Iles Ave. Open to all ages, the event features competitive and noncompetitive courses. To register or for more information, visit MemorialSportsCare.com.

The triathlon commemorates Dr. Daniel Adair, an orthopedic surgeon for Springfield Clinic and founder and co-medical director of Memorial SportsCare, who died on Sept. 7, 2015. SportsCare and the Springfield Clinic Orthopedic Group are the triathlon's sponsors.
