Taylorville Memorial Hospital Auxiliary held six Central Illinois Community Blood Center drives in 2016.  Through these drives, this community provided 392 units of blood, impacting the lives of up to 1,568 patients.  

Units of whole blood are collected and transported to the Central Illinois Community Blood Center in Davenport and processed into platelets, plasma, red blood cells and cryo. Within 72 hours of the drives held at TMH, local patients begin receiving transfusions, including patients at TMH.  Just five units of blood contribute to 20 life-saving procedures.

“Many thanks to TMH Auxiliary member Marilyn Voggetzer who ended her tenure as chair of the drives at the end of 2016,” said Jane Simmons, TMH Auxiliary President.  “Her work with the blood drives is invaluable.”

The TMH Auxiliary will be hosting the next blood drive on March 2, 2017 in the Janice Hopper Auditorium from 11 am to 6 pm.
