Julie Heaton, RN, has been named Taylorville Memorial Hospital’s June Colleague of the Month. Heaton, who joined the nonprofit hospital in April 2005, is recognized as an exemplary colleague who works extra hours to support the unit and consistently helps both patients and colleagues.
"She is dependable, and I know it is going to be a good day when she is here both for her patients and staff," wrote one nominator. "Julie is a true asset to our department and to TMH."
Heaton is also appreciated for her attention to patient safety, from making sure call lights are within reach to ensuring rails are up and safety belts are secured during transfers to the operating table.
Her commitment to quality is evidenced by her recent certification as an ambulatory peri-anesthesia nurse and her membership in both the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses and the American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses.
The Colleague of the Month award celebrates Memorial Health colleagues who exemplify excellence in their roles and embody the organization's mission, vision and values.
