Taylorville Memorial Hospital is one of only 19 hospitals in Illinois to earn a top rating for patient recommendation from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
CMS, a federal agency, rates hospitals on a scale of one to five stars in a wide range of areas. TMH’s five-star patient recommendation rating reflects feedback from CMS patient surveys, which indicated that patients were highly likely to recommend TMH to others.
Fewer than 20 hospitals in Illinois have a five-star rating in this area. TMH also has five stars for hospital cleanliness, as well as communication between nurses and patients. Survey respondents reported that TMH nurses excel at explaining concepts clearly and listening closely to their needs.
“We’re very proud of the care we provide at TMH,” said Aaron Puchbauer, president and CEO. “It’s great to know that our patients are recommending that care to their friends and loved ones.”
Among the 18 other hospitals statewide to receive five CMS stars for patient recommendation is Lincoln Memorial Hospital, which, like TMH, is part of Springfield-based Memorial Health.
“Hospitals don’t get five CMS stars by accident,” said Dolan Dalpoas, a senior vice president who oversees Memorial Health’s rural hospitals. “These ratings show how hard the teams at TMH work to support, comfort and care for our patients. The culture they’ve created is truly inspirational.”
