Amber Sperry, a virtual care nurse practitioner with Memorial Care on Koke Mill in Springfield, was recently named March Colleague of the Month for the Memorial Health Ambulatory Group.
Patient feedback highlighted Sperry’s ability to connect with patients across a video screen and her ability to regularly create an environment of trust, patience and compassion for patients needing assistance.
“What sets Amber apart is her ability to genuinely listen, not just to the words said, but to the concerns, emotions and unspoken worries behind them,” one patient shared. “As someone with a speech impediment, I am often looked down upon or not taken seriously. With Amber, I never once felt dismissed or rushed.”
The patient also appreciated Sperry’s ability to explain things in a compassionate manner, delivering comfort and reassurance during difficult moments.
The nominator for this award, who works with Sperry, explained: “To make a patient feel like this through a phone screen speaks volumes about the exceptional person Amber is.”
Sperry has worked for Memorial Health since 2008.
The Colleague of the Month award celebrates Memorial Health colleagues who exemplify excellence in their roles and embody the organization's mission, vision and values.
