Memorial Home Services will offer a free six-week grief support group starting in October.
The course will be a closed group limited to 12 to 15 participants. The course will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. beginning Tuesday, Oct. 11, in the Memorial Center for Learning and Innovation (MCLI), 228 W. Miller St., at the southeast corner of Rutledge and Miller streets.
A licensed clinical social worker from Memorial Home Services Hospice will lead the class. Attendees will follow a curriculum that follows the five states of grief. The course will use materials developed by experts in the field of grief counseling. The content is appropriate for 12-year-olds and older.
Advance registration is required. To register, visit MemorialHomeServices.com/Hospice or call 217-788-3333.
Organizers expect to offer the course three times a year. The course replaces an open meeting grief support group that formally met twice a month at the Memorial Home Services office on Bond Street.
Free parking is available on the first and third levels of the parking garage south of the MCLI at Rutledge and Carpenter streets.
