The annual report is for fiscal year 2014, which ended Sept. 30, 2014.
“The achievements and patient stories highlighted in this year’s report showcase how strong our organization remains by working together, doing what’s right for our patients and staying focused on our mission, vision, values and goals,” said Edgar J. Curtis, president and chief executive officer for Memorial Health System. “None of this success would be possible without our dedicated employees and volunteers, our skilled physician partners and the support of the communities in which Memorial’s seven affiliates call home.”
Highlights of the annual report include:
- A series of patient profiles featuring community members throughout central Illinois.
- An update of Memorial Medical Center's expansion project, Advancing Care By Design, which includes a three-floor patient care tower that will add 114 private patient rooms, six new operating rooms and expansion for surgical services, a renovated main entrance and lobby and the new Memorial Center for Learning and Innovation.
- Details about the nonprofit health system's Community Benefit program. In 2014, Memorial provided more than $140.8 million in unreimbursed services. Community benefits totaled nearly $88.3 million, including $14.4 million in charity care. The unpaid costs for patients insured by Medicaid totaled $37 million.
The health system’s seven affiliates are Memorial Medical Center of Springfield, Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital of Lincoln, Passavant Area Hospital of Jacksonville, Taylorville Memorial Hospital, Memorial Home Services, Memorial Physician Services and Mental Health Centers of Central Illinois.
