Memorial Health Launches Horizons Program to Support Future Healthcare Professionals

5/13/2025

Memorial Health has launched the Horizons Program, a new initiative designed to support students pursuing degrees in high-demand healthcare fields through financial assistance, hands-on clinical experience and a clear path to employment after graduation.

“This program is not only an opportunity for students – it’s a strategic investment in our future workforce,” said Mike Woods, Workforce Strategy & Planning Director at Memorial Health. “We’re creating a direct pipeline from education to employment to ensure we have compassionate, capable professionals ready to provide exceptional care throughout our health system.”

The Horizons Program addresses a growing need for skilled healthcare professionals by investing in students early in their academic journey. Participants receive a $1,000 bi-weekly stipend during their final academic year, up to $5,250 per year in tuition assistance and more than 200 hours of hands-on patient care experience. Upon graduation and licensure, students may transition into full-time roles at Memorial Health with a three-year employment commitment.

Participants in the Horizons Program must be pursuing degrees that lead to careers including: CT technologist, MRI technologist, cath lab special procedures technologist, surgical technologist, ultrasound technologist, cardiac sonographer, vascular sonographer and respiratory therapist.

The program is open to external candidates and current Memorial Health colleagues who are in the first year of an accredited program and expect to graduate in spring 2026. Applications are now being accepted.

Students not currently enrolled in a qualifying program are encouraged to explore academic pathways through Memorial’s partner institutions, including Lincoln Land and Richland Community Colleges.
