Ophelia Sangster, a pharmacy technician specialist, is the Decatur Memorial Hospital Colleague of the Month for September.

Sangster is known by her colleagues as one of the hardest working members of the pharmacy team, routinely taking on additional responsibilities including managing technician schedules and helping implement an entirely new workflow in the pharmacy department. She picks up shifts when needed and always prioritizes patient safety.

“Ophelia ensures the correct medications reach the patient, no matter inpatient, outpatient, surgery or in the ED,” her nominator wrote. “Not one for self-promotion, she exemplifies the best of this department in how she works for the benefit of patients in all she does.”

Sangster has worked for Decatur Memorial Hospital since 2019.
