The public is invited to stop by Lincoln Memorial Hospital between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 13, to meet Senior Life Solutions staff and learn more about the program.
Senior Life Solutions focuses on improving the mental health and well-being of local seniors. During the open house celebration, colleagues Katelyn Hill, a licensed clinical social worker, and Sarah Tierney, a registered nurse, will greet visitors and answer questions. Visitors can also enjoy refreshments and giveaways.
“Depression, unresolved grief and hopelessness are not normal parts of aging,” said Todd Mourning, director of clinical operations at LMH. “For the past five years, Senior Life Solutions has provided support and guidance to local seniors experiencing depression, anxiety, grief and other issues, improving quality of life and overall health.”
Participants in Senior Life Solutions attend group therapy sessions led by a licensed social worker two to three days a week. Their physical health is assessed regularly by a registered nurse, and they see a psychiatrist at least monthly. If necessary, they may also participate in one-on-one or family counseling.
The program is open to anyone over the age of 55 who is on Medicare. No referral is needed – anyone interested in taking part can contact the Senior Life Solutions office directly, and staff will set up an initial appointment.
“This unique program is truly having a positive impact on seniors in Lincoln and Logan County,” said Mourning. “I encourage anyone who might be interested in the program for themselves or a loved one to stop by and learn more.”
