Memorial Specialty Care Physician to Host Educational Session on Atrial Fibrillation

7/24/2024

The public is invited to join Bernard Lim, MD, PhD, a cardiac electrophysiologist with Memorial Specialty Care, for “Understanding Atrial Fibrillation: Prevention & Treatment,” a presentation on the most common form of heart rhythm disorder.

Dr. Lim will discuss signs and symptoms that may mean someone is experiencing atrial fibrillation, as well as the latest treatment methods and how it can be prevented.

“Atrial fibrillation causes the heart rate to be very irregular,” he said. “It’s very important for people to be aware of their risk, as this condition can increase the risk of stroke and heart failure. Fortunately, we have effective treatments that can reduce that risk.”

The free event will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 1, in Decatur Memorial Hospital Classrooms A & B. Registration is available at memorial.health/dmh-community-education.
