Ashley Hansen, RN, with the Three South nursing unit at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital, is the nonprofit hospital’s Colleague of the Month for February.
Hansen is the charge nurse when Illinois College nursing students in Jacksonville attend their clinicals. She makes each student feel welcome and takes time to discuss the needs and goals for each patient for that shift. She also includes the students when she enters a patient room and takes time to explain the patient’s status and review medications to help them understand the indications for holding or giving a medication.
“Ashley always has a positive attitude with her patients and the nursing students,” wrote her nominator. “She was identified by the students as ‘the kind of nurse they will strive to be.’”
Hansen has worked for Jacksonville Memorial Hospital since 2020.
