Patients appreciate Kuizin’s thorough explanations and the way he educates them on the need for physical therapy and how it aids in their recovery and return to independence. He has a friendly demeanor with patients and colleagues, a positive attitude and a strong work ethic.
“Helping patients achieve their goals so they feel confident, safe and satisfied at discharge is the most rewarding part of the job,” Kuizin said.
Kuizin also facilitates improvements in the physical therapy department, especially related to improving the positive experience of patients he cares for.
“Allen is compassionate and driven to ensure that all the needs of his patients are met,” wrote one of his leaders. “His focus on patient-centered care is consistently evident in both his words and actions. He models best practices for providing valuable patient treatment, education and also ensures a great patient experience.”
Kuizin has worked for SMH since 2021.
The colleague of the year is selected from 11 individuals previously named colleague of the month from January through November of the year. Kuizin was the June SMH Colleague of the Month.
