Dr. Liu will share current best practices for the detection and treatment of breast cancer. A question-and-answer session will follow. The event, which will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 5, in Classrooms A and B at Decatur Memorial Hospital, is free and open to the public.
“October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is a great reminder of how important it is for women to be aware of breast health and know the facts about breast cancer,” Dr. Liu said. “I hope this event will raise awareness and potentially save lives.”
Memorial Health is also offering free breast cancer screenings during October for women aged 40 and older who are uninsured or underinsured.
The free screenings, part of Memorial’s annual “Mammogram Mondays,” are available at all five Memorial hospitals across the region, including DMH. Decatur-area residents can schedule an appointment by calling the DMH Breast Center at 217-876-2320.
