A patient nominated Hendrix and shared how she went above and beyond to help him while he was hospitalized. His wife’s birthday was approaching. When Hendrix asked him how he was doing and if there was anything she could do for him, he told her about his wife’s birthday and how he didn’t have access to money or a way to order her a gift since he was hospitalized.
“Kris asked him if she could help him with this, and he agreed,” wrote a colleague. “On her birthday, his wife came into his room and found a beautiful hydrangea and a card with a verse in it – all from the patient, with Kris’ help.”
The patient and his wife tried to reimburse Hendrix afterwards but she refused payment.
“The patient and his spouse truly appreciated the gift and her thoughtfulness for assisting him,” wrote the colleague. “They felt she expressed integrity and has a good heart.”
Hendrix has worked for Jacksonville Memorial Hospital since 2020.
