A phlebotomist, Merriman helps out, lends her skills and stays late when needed. She reassures patients and is diligent about patient safety. One of her nominators described how Merriman appreciates learning new things and then shows her colleagues to help them learn, too. She is known as a positive and helpful employee to work with – respectful and kind.

“Kahlan always reassures patients and tries to make sure they know she cares,” wrote one nominator. “She asks questions and takes advice on how to better do her job. If she ever thinks she might need additional assistance, she’s quick about finding someone to help before entering the patient’s room.”

Merriman has worked at Lincoln Memorial Hospital since 2021.
