“This budgeted grant was distributed from unrestricted funds at the direction of our local board of directors,” said Kim Bourne, president and CEO of Taylorville Memorial Hospital. “This sizeable gift to help fund a major capital improvement to the Taylorville High School campus demonstrates our commitment to help improve the emotional and physical health of our community’s students and their families.”
The school district has committed $17.9 million toward the construction of the new multi-purpose facility. Construction is slated to begin March 2023 and will be completed by August 2024.
“This exciting addition to our school district is only possible through the vision and generosity of so many in our community,” said Chris Dougherty, superintendent of Taylorville CUSD3. “We extend our sincere appreciation and applaud the forward-thinking donors of the Taylorville Memorial Foundation for supporting this project, which will undoubtedly benefit students, families and members of the community well into the future.”
Dick Adams, director of Christian County Economic Development, agreed. “This is an exciting step forward from both an educational and economic development standpoint for Christian County and the Taylorville community,” he said. “The willingness of the Taylorville Memorial Foundation to support this important project speaks to their unwavering focus to improve the overall health of our community.”
