“I am probably the first person a patient or visitor sees when they enter our hospital,” said Mansfield. “If I can brighten their day with a friendly greeting, provide encouraging words and get them where they need to go, then I have done my job.”
Mansfield “pays attention to the little things that make a big difference in a patient’s experience,” said Becky Morrow, director of hospitality at Taylorville Memorial Hospital, who nominated Mansfield for recognition. “Kathy offers bottled water, grabs a warm blanket or a meal to send home with a patient who had been at the hospital for hours. There are countless examples of her compassion for every patient and visitor.”
Mansfield, of Taylorville, has worked at Taylorville Memorial Hospital since 2020. Prior to beginning her service at Taylorville Memorial Hospital, Mansfield taught school for 36 years.
Outside of work, she enjoys painting, reading and being outside.
