Stephanie Mason received the DAISY Award for Nursing Excellence at Springfield Memorial Hospital.
Known for her expertise and compassion, Mason, of Girard, was nominated by a patient to receive the award, hospital officials said.
In the nomination form for her DAISY Award, the patient said Mason βis a blessing. She took time out of her personal life to help me β¦ regain my independence.β
A certified medical-surgical registered nurse in the infusion center at Springfield Memorial Hospital, Mason has worked at the nonprofit hospital since 2008.
Outside of work, Mason enjoys gardening, woodworking, cooking and spending time with her family, which includes her daughter and two grandsons.
The nonprofit DAISY Foundation was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, who died in 1999 from complications of an autoimmune disease. The care Barnes and his family received from nurses during his illness inspired them to create the DAISY Award.
