Springfield Memorial Hospital Nurse Honored with DAISY Award

11/8/2021

SPRINGFIELD – Beckie Book was the latest recipient of a DAISY Award for Nursing Excellence at Springfield Memorial Hospital.

Book, of Williamsville, was nominated to receive the award by a patient at the nonprofit hospital, where she is known for her expertise and compassion, hospital officials said. She has been nominated numerous times for recognition with a DAISY Award and has collected “a garden” of DAISY pins on her badge.

A registered nurse in the orthopedics department at Springfield Memorial Hospital, Book has worked at the hospital for seven years. She graduated from Methodist College of Nursing in 2019.

Outside of work, Book enjoys spending time with her friends and family.

The nonprofit DAISY Foundation was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, who died in 1999 from complications of an autoimmune disease. The care Barnes and his family received from nurses during his illness inspired them to create the DAISY Award.

Any nurse at Springfield Memorial Hospital may be nominated for the award. Nomination forms are available throughout the hospital or online at DaisyFoundation.org.
