Taylorville Memorial Hospital Welcomes Orthopedic Surgeon

10/26/2021

TAYLORVILLE – Taylorville area residents who require orthopedic surgery may not have far to travel for care, thanks to the addition of an orthopedic surgeon to the specialty services and surgical teams at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.

Dr. David C. Tapscott, an orthopedic surgeon with Springfield Clinic, began doing surgical procedures at the nonprofit hospital in August. He performs surgery at Taylorville Memorial on the first and third Thursdays of each month.

Tapscott earned his medical degree at the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine. He completed his fellowship at Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, and his residency at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield.

“We always seek ways to bring the highest quality of care to our patients, right here at home,” said Kim Bourne, president and CEO of Taylorville Memorial Hospital. “We are excited to count Dr. Tapscott among our surgical colleagues and proud to offer this specialty care locally to our patients at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.”

Tapscott's surgical skills focus on upper and lower extremity fracture care, shoulder scopes, shoulder replacements and general orthopedic care.

Tapscott was raised in Edinburg and is proud to come back to his hometown area to provide surgical care for the Taylorville community, said Bourne.

Tapscott sees patients at the Springfield Clinic office in Taylorville, 600 N. Main St. To schedule an appointment, call 800-444-7541.
