Applications Open for Nursing Student Scholarship

3/2/2021

The Taylorville Memorial Hospital Foundation is accepting applications for the Carolyn M. Butterfield Trust Nursing Scholarship.

One scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student who has graduated from a high school in Christian County and is enrolled in a two- or four-year college or university. Applicants must be in or have completed their first year in a nursing program.

“Mrs. Butterfield had an intuitive vision to help young people with aspirations to a career in healthcare and perhaps aid in the decreasing shortage of nurses in our service area,” said Raedena Ryan, executive director of the Taylorville Memorial Hospital Foundation. “It’s an honor to encourage and award the scholarship on her behalf.”

As a charter member of the Taylorville Memorial Hospital Foundation, Butterfield understood the importance of a rural hospital. Through her trust, Butterfield provided an endowment to the Taylorville Memorial Hospital Foundation to fund annual scholarships. It was her wish to financially assist students from Christian County pursuing careers in healthcare, especially in the field of nursing.

Applications are available online at TaylorvilleMemorial.org/Foundation/Education-Opportunities, by contacting the Taylorville Memorial Hospital Foundation office at 217-707-5271 or by email at tmhfoundation@mhsil.com.
