Thanks to the efforts of a hospital volunteer, two mobile device-charging stations have been installed in the waiting rooms of the emergency and surgery departments at Passavant Area Hospital.
Judi Flynn, a retired employee of ExxonMobil in Jacksonville, used a grant opportunity available through the company to raise $2,000 to purchase and install the charging stations.
“The money is going to a good cause and I’m very happy about it,” Flynn said.
Each charging station features multiple hook-ups to accommodate different mobile devices to make a visit to the hospital’s emergency department or surgery department more convenient and less stressful for patients and their loved ones.
ExxonMobil offers retired employees volunteer grants of up to $2,000 a year ($500 for each 40 hours of volunteer time).
“Our Foundation’s goal is to thoughtfully apply unrestricted donations in helpful ways to make better experiences for patients and visitors,” said Pam Martin, executive director of the Passavant Area Hospital Foundation and Volunteers. “These charging stations fit a need when a personal cellphone battery goes down.”
