The Passavant Area Hospital Foundation is the recipient of a $10,000 COVID-19 grant from the Cargill Corporation, according to Pam Martin, executive director of the Foundation.
“Cargill’s grant allows healthcare facilities to use the grant to purchase minor equipment or personal protective equipment to fight COVID-19,” said Martin. “The Foundation has used the grant to purchase a Clorox Total 360 electrostatic sprayer for the Passavant Hospital Environmental Services team. This reinforces our commitment to our first hospital value, safety.”
The portable unit will be used to clean public areas in the hospital, such as waiting rooms, meeting rooms and dining areas. “The sprayer produces a fine mist of a spore defense cleaner disinfectant,” said Kerri Barton, manager of Environmental Services. “This cleaning tool will allow our colleagues to clean and disinfect in those hard-to-reach places like the underside and backside of surfaces.”
The cleaner disinfectant will kill C.diff (Clostridium difficle) in five minutes and 38 other bacteria, viruses and fungi in one minute. The spray dries within a few minutes, has a low odor and can be utilized on a broad range of surfaces.
