Debra Crowley is May Colleague of the Month

9/8/2020

After witnessing hundreds of births in 14 years as a registered nurse in Family Maternity Suites (FMS), Debra Crowley, RN, IBCLC, is still amazed each time she is part of a new birth. “There is truly nothing as rewarding as seeing the excitement on a parent’s face when they meet their baby for the first time,” said Crowley.

Crowley was recently selected as the May Colleague of the Month for being a resource for both new parents and her colleagues in FMS. “I enjoy being the source of information, advice and encouragement for my patients,” said Crowley. “I like that our department has created an environment of learning and teamwork, and I value the friendship of my colleagues.”

Crowley provides care of mothers and babies throughout labor, delivery and recovery. She also instructs new moms on lactation education and support, plus general newborn care.

In addition to a lactation consultant certification, Crowley is certified in inpatient obstetrics and electronic fetal monitoring. One of her goals to be more involved locally and nationally with The Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses.

Crowley and her husband, Perry, are the parents of five children, two step daughters and four grandchildren. The family resides in Jacksonville. Crowley’s hobbies include bicycling, camping and boating.

The Colleague of the Month at Passavant receives eight hours off with pay, a special plaque and pin, a close parking space for one month in the physicians’ parking garage and a decorated cake.
