Labor and delivery nurse Grace Roberts, RN, was recently named the March Colleague of the Month for Springfield Memorial Hospital.
A patient nominated Roberts for the award after a challenging labor, writing: “From the minute I was placed in a delivery room to the birth of my new baby and the end of her shift, Grace was a blessing. She was attentive, caring, engaging and committed to me and my comfort.”
During a challenging epidural procedure, the patient appreciated how Roberts offered comfort and encouragement. Then when the patient’s blood pressure unexpectedly dropped, Roberts responded swiftly and decisively.
“Grace checked on me often, offered different methods of comfort and also gave me space to try to relax,” the patient wrote in her nomination. “Overall, she was a wonderful caretaker, nurse and friend when I needed it.”
Roberts is a six-time DAISY award winner as well, which is an international honor that recognizes nurses who display extraordinary compassionate care. She has worked at Memorial Health since 2002.
The Colleague of the Month award celebrates Memorial Health colleagues who exemplify excellence in their roles and embody the organization’s mission, vision and values.
