Gary Davis, a cybersecurity analyst, was recently recognized as the February Colleague of the Month for System Resources at Memorial Health.
Davis, who has served Memorial Health since May 1984, recently demonstrated exemplary diligence, professionalism and commitment in protecting the organization and a colleague against cybersecurity threats.
Davis took immediate action to protect the organization's network and data from potential harm. He continued his investigation even after the risk to Memorial was deemed minimal and resolved. Using his extensive knowledge of cybercrime tactics, he discovered that a colleague was at imminent risk of a large personal financial loss.
"This colleague's above-and-beyond diligence and attitude while investigating suspicious activity was outstanding," wrote the nominator. "Gary’s intervention ultimately prevented the loss of an almost five-figure sum of money for the colleague (and potentially much more had it gone undetected)."
Davis took time to call the team member on multiple occasions during and after work hours to help them fully understand the incident, secure their personal accounts, and cell phone. His actions went far beyond his job responsibilities.
"Gary consistently lives out our values, but this particular event highlighted all of them in action," the nominator wrote. "Kudos for a job exceptionally well done."
